Unscrupulous (The Manhattanites, #2) - Avery Aster ummm, I've been so perplexed on how to rate this book. I really really really wanted to like it. It's been on my short list for some time, I just was never able to squeeze it in. Whoa, Whoa, whoa, I'm not saying I hated it, I just was never able to love it. Here's why....

Taddy, Lex, Vive and Blake have been friends every since they met at boarding school. Well, Taddy and Lex longer, but once they met Vive and Blake the foursome was complete. They have been through thick and thin together, including a near "death" with Lex's mom. Needing a break the girls head on a vacation that will forever change Taddy's life.

She meets Warner, and they immediately feel something. But a huge misunderstanding has Taddy running for the hills and making a New Year's pact with her girls, promising for the next year, sex and men are out of the equation and they will all focus on work only. The girls all do well until a freak run in with Big Daddy changes everything for Taddy again.

The book was hilarious. The girls were so funny, it had me cracking up out loud in the middle of the night. And omg, Big Daddy, hot hot hot!! Loved him!! And once him and Taddy got together,....yum!!! I absolutely loved them together, and well both of them apart as well, but here's where I couldn't love it.

I got bored. :( I really hate to say it, but I did. I felt like it took forever for the story to get started. I know you have to be introduced to the storyline and sometimes that can take a little longer, but it seemed like it took forever for Taddy and Warner to meet and then once they met it took forever for them to meet up again, then everything rushed up and the story was over. yeah, I got pulled back in at the last, but for the remainder of the book I was just bored and irritated wondering what was taking them so long to get together, orrrr, have a conversation, or something. Yeah, they met and instantly wanted each other and spent months thinking about the other, but it just took forever for it all to happen. :(

It was a good read, just not what i was expecting. Usually I can read books really really fast, and since my little boy has started kindergarten I've had more time to read, especially at night since he goes to sleep way early, I was just so bored with the storyline I couldn't focus on it and would end up going to sleep too. :( Maybe if it had been edited more, so that the couple ended up together sooner, I would have liked it more. I loved them together, there just wasn't enough of that and took forever to get to it. :(
