Codename: Romeo

Codename: Romeo - Kat Attalla Do whatever it takes. No apologies, no excuses.

So I really don't know how I feel about this book. I liked it, I just didn't love it. I think all of the scientist talk sort of put me off of it some. Not that I'm against scientists, it's not that, but all of the references to them having sex as a science experiment....I just don't know what made me sort of on the fence about it, I just was.

I had had this on my tbr list and in my kindle forever. I was in between reads and just decided now was the time to tackle it. It was sort of The Big Bang Theory meets Graceland.

Meet Erik

His errection throbbed against the juncture between her legs. "That's why I didn't want this assignment. Do you have any idea what it's like to walk around in this state for hours at a time?"

He's undercover on a case. All he is supposed to have to do is be at the airport when the carrier gets off the plane watch the exchange and then he has the transporter and his guy that he's been chasing for forever. Of course that plan falls through as the guy doesn't make the exchange and leaves. He can't believe his eyes at the carrier, not only is she sexy as hell, but the biggest klutz he has ever seen. Why would a criminal trust a woman like her...

Professor Victoria "Tori"

"Of all the conceited, testosterone-based carbon units I have met, and there have been quiet a few over the years, you take the cake."

The second Victoria lands she wonders why she didn't just stay in Mexico a few days longer instead of coming back to the freezing winter cold. Not only is it freezing, she's dropping everything and it's taken forever to get home, all she wants is to go to bed. So the last thing she needs is the water company coming bright and early the next day because of the pipes. However the guy that will be working on them is quiet the fine specimen and makes her feel things that she has no control over but would like to experience all the more.

Erik can't believe the way he reacts to Victoria, not only does he have to figure out what's going on with her, he finds himself wanting to spend more time with her too. The more time he spends with her the more he feels like he has the wrong girl, she can't be the transporter. When he finally figures out that he was right, it's too late, and she's in big danger now and he has to protect her. And now that she knows he's been lying to her he doesn't know how things are going to go down between them. It's probably for the best, but he can't help but feel disappointed about it.

I liked the storyline with this book. I loved as time went on, Victoria loosened up from her uptight science professor self to knowing exactly what she wanted and confident enough to make that clear. She was quirky, cool, and smart as hell. Zack was the complete opposite. He was known for being attractive, so much to the point, that his codename, ha, no surprises here was Romeo. He was handsome and knew it. He knew how he affected women and worked it to his advantage. However, when he met Victoria, everything slipped. He knew he wanted her, but his insane attraction to her made him lose all train of though. He couldn't resist her and had massive problems denying her, even when he could have cost him his job.

"There is something to be said for stamina over wisdom," she said wistfully.
"What does that mean?"
A grin tugged at her lips. "It's not the cerebral talents. It's the never-ending, mind-bending, incredible sex that draws me."

Like I said, I really liked it, just couldn't love it. I understood that she is a mad scientist, so to speak, she's overly intelligent and to the point she doesn't have a lot of social skills. It made her endearing, but sometimes all of the science talk just left me wanting more of something....I'm not sure what. Zack was likeable. He kind of went soft when he met Tori but I get it, he had been a hard ass for so long not letting anyone in. So when he met her, she changed him. I wonder how things will go on after the ending, it seemed sort of a HFN but overall, I'm not disappointed that I read it, it just wasn't exactly what I had expected...
