Branded as Trouble (Rough Riders, #6)Branded as Trouble by Lorelei James
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

hmmm, This book wasn't what I thought it would be. I still liked it, but I was excited about Colt that was before in his wild ways and his woman taming him. I'm not disappointed in the way the book went just wasn't what I was expecting. Still love this series and looking forward to so much more. :)

I love this series!!

This book was exceptionally good. I loved Trevor in every other book he was in, but he took it to a whole other level in this book. And Chassie, oh my, she was so caring and understanding. I swear in the beginning I believe I would have struggled a whole lot more than she did when the truth was revealed. However, the prize she got made me extremely jealous of her. And then there is sweet Edgard, sigh....

Let's just say sign me up for one of those sandwiches with a Jamie in between. *wiggles eyebrows*

and now I'm off for a cold shower and to start the next book. :)

Convicted - Aleatha Romig

Convicted (Consequences, #3)Convicted by Aleatha Romig

"You must stick to your conviction, but be ready to abandon your assumptions."

10/12/13
WOW, I don't even think I can begin to say what I'm feeling inside about this book. I'm exhausted, feel a little hung over, (wait that's from all the alcohol I ingested while getting through this), I'm SOOO emotional, still a little confused, mad at some characters I loved and love some characters I didn't so much, but at the same time all kinds of happy. Seriously though, Ms. Romig straight up wore me out and still kept me hanging on every word until the last sentence.

"A wish, a dream, a miracle-Whatever it is, it's real."

It was NOTHING that I thought it would be, absolutely went the opposite direction I thought it would go, actually. Like within the first 2% I was like, "Wait, what!?!?!". Matter of fact my very first status update was "WTF??", LOL!! Some of it I loved, some of it I thought was going to make me crazy. I need to really sort out my thoughts, I just know Ms. Romig is a genius. The way this series twisted and turned was beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I went from absolutely hating Tony in Consequences to just completely adoring him in Truth and Convicted. Others that I loved/hated I ended up feeling the opposite about in different books as well.

"Theirs was a long, complicated story with a monster and a knight. What made their story unique was that these two players were the same person."

I can't quiet give it the 5 stars I want, because the ending left me,....disappointed, no that's not really the word, just sorta short, I guess. I mean, (view spoiler)[ WHO THE HELL was Phil and Eric talking about?? (hide spoiler)] And at times it took me a long time to read it because in the middle it kinda got slow. In Consequences, there was a slow spot in the middle too, but it was so gripping and had me trapped in it for days after, I ignored that but this one was different. I couldn't put Consequences down, this one sorta lulled me to sleep. I can't really pinpoint where that started but until I got to 70%, I could only read about 10-15% at a time and then I was a goner. Plus it hurt my head to read more than that at a time, too. I had to absorb it all. Not that I minded that part, just when it got slow. I'm sorry just the way it went for me.

I feel like if I say too much I could ruin spoilers for others so I'm just refraining from that. Just know, Consequences and Truth need to be read first and in order before reading this book. This series will make you question everyone in it, every action they make and even the consequences suffered. It's insane and thrilling, and confusing, but all at the same time, bloody brilliant.

It's like nothing I've ever read. Anytime someone asks for a recommendation for something to read, this is the series that first comes to mind and I practically shove it down their throats, lol. Read it!!

Bared by Him: - Red Garnier

Gah, I was so looking forward to Cade's story. He was the total silent type and I love those. I must say he fell a lot faster than I thought he would, but this story had a little twist in it that had me holding back tears. I've loved this series and highly recommend it. Each story is 100-120 pages, but they aren't too rushed, have a really good story line with lots of hot sex, and rich possessive alpha males. Great in between series. :)

Re-read Review
haha, I had no idea I had read this book almost a year ago to the date until I read my review from last time. I still love the story. I didn't remember Tru getting on my nerves as much the first time as she did this time. She drove me absolutely insane, but I still love me some Jake. I'm still nervous about what will happen in the second book, the blurb alone makes me scared, but I've waited for a whole year for it so let's get this party started because I can't wait for more of possessive Jake.

Original Review October 1, 2012

I love love loved this book!!! OMG wow!! the only downside is, I have learned there is going to be a sequel and even though I'm stoked to have more Jake and Tru, I'm so scared of what kind of drama that will entail. I would love to read about maybe a happy wedding but I'm a little scared of what kind of fallouts would have to come about to be able to make a good story!!!

Kept by Him - Red Garnier

I've really enjoyed this short story series. All of these Chicago alpha males have been scorching hot playboys that all fall head over heels in love and realize all the playing they've been doing was just a past time to finding the girl of their dreams. The thing I've enjoyed the most about this series, is the fact that each book is just barely over 100 pages, but the stories don't seem to be rushed or incomplete. They have plenty of character development, with some backstory, and duel POV's with a big HEA!!

Daniel had known who the girl of his dreams was for years, but she asked him to step back and he did for her. But when she comes to him and asks him to have sex with her, he knows this is his opportunity to finally get her and have her as his own. She doesn't go down easy, but who could really turn down Daniel Lexington??

I loved the photo shoot scene, like scorching hot, well basically any scene with Daniel was, but that one was beyond hot. I can't wait for the last story. Those silent type guys always get me for some reason. :)

"It's you and me. Us. Forever. No secrets and no lies."

This book, oh my gawd, this book was amazing!!! I can remember reading the first book and just being blown away. I had no clue until my GR friend Vika, alerted me that there now was another book to the series. I had to fit it in as soon as possible, and wow, I'm so glad I did. IT WAS AMAZING!!!

"You were my dream when I was in a nightmare."

I feel like I can't say a whole lot about the book because I don't want to give anything away. I will say at times I trusted no one. Even the people I wanted to trust, had me suspicious. I felt bad in the end for some of the people I suspected but hey, they had their reasons. It was one heck of a crazy ride that I had to force myself to put down to sleep, lol.

I highly highly recommend this book. It has everything. HOT sex scenes, for which most of my GR friends appreciate, a storyline that keeps you drawn in from the very beginning, and lots of danger and suspense, and a hot possessive alpha male. Read this, but make sure you read the book before it or you will be lost. :)

Bound by Him - Red Garnier

I am in love with these hot possessive billionaires from Chicago.

Andrew had been madly in love with Whitney three years ago, but a situation had him secretly leaving the country for three years without her. She had no idea why he left or where he went, she just knew that when he left he broke her heart and she would never let a man hurt her like that again.

When Andrew shows up out of nowhere they can't deny that they still feel the attraction for each other, but Whitney won't let herself fall for Andrew again so easily.

This was really really good to be just 112 pages. The story moves fast but nothing seems to feel too rushed. This series has been the perfect in between series between longer reads. Great characters, great stories, hot hot hot sex scenes and of course all of the characters from the other stories make appearances, and happily ever afters!! I honestly think I like each story a little bit better than the one before as well.

Taken by Him - Red Garnier

When I read the first book in the series, I was instantly more curious about Luke. I just have a thing for those playboys who think they will never be captured and then watching them turn to mush when it happens, lol. Luke was no disappointment.

This series has been really good. I accidentally wrote my review out of order, but I've read three books so far and they seem to get better and better. Some short stories seem to be too rushed, but this series actually comes out well developed and the story is really good. I've loved all the characters and stories. They are dual POV too, which I love in a story.

Luke was awesome. He got shot and was forced to leave town until the shooter was captured. That is where he met Peyton. They decide to have an affair while there but as all stories go, once they hook up they realize one weekend won't be enough, but Luke being the playboy that he is....NOpe, not giving anymore, you have to read it, and I encourage it. :)

Got another question, lol......

okay girls, my GR and Booklikes are linked but when I write new reviews on GR they don't transfer over to booklikes. :( Do I have to reimport them all the time or is there another way??

Booklikes...

Why can't I figure out this site...????  I saw a whole lot of my GR friends heading over to this site. I had made up my acct here about a week ago, but didn't play with it anymore than that, but I came back over today and it just completely boggles my mind. :( HELP!

Rock Chick Revolution - Kristen Ashley "No matter how old we get, we always need to believe in fairytales."

Ren
image
"Everything you do, what you eat, what you drink, how you live, how you love, how you work, all of it runs deep. You give it everything. It means everything to you. Teach that to our kids, will you?"

Ally
image
(Oh come on, you saw that^^ coming, lol.)

SO, really, it pains me to write this review, like major, because i feel like when I do it's final, no more Rock Chick fun. :( I feel like I will be missing some of my best friends and I'm not really looking forward to letting them go yet. I still want to believe so hard that somewhere in Denver there really is a Fortnum's, maybe even my another name or something, where the Rock Chicks gather daily while Tex serves coffee while yelling at the customers and the hot bunch show up pretty much daily to boss their women around and drag them back to the books to make their expectations then make out a little. Okay really, maybe I have a Jane like infactuation but really I want to believe that, yes fairy tales like these really do come true. *sniff, sniff*

image

So Ally's book was a little different than the rest of the Rock Chick books, but it was to be expected seeing as how this is Ally we are talking about and even though she is a Rock Chick through and through she's also a Nightingale so I knew it would be somewhat different. What it was, though, was brilliance.

image

I really really don't want to ruin any of the story, let's just say, Ally and Ren, as you know from the other books, have something, we aren't sure what, but something going on. So we do a little Rock Chick Rewinds in the beginning to show what was really going on and how far back when no one even had a clue. Ally sure needed everyone to spill all of their secrets been when it came to hers she had a biggie or two. I loved all of this catching up time, seeing different situations from a different angle. The when we catch up, it's just Rock Chick awesomeness!!!

"Cloakroom or handicapped bathroom?'

Ally was absolute Rock Chick badass awesomeness, and Ren, oh my Ren!! FOR ME, Luke is my ultimate Hot Bunch guy, BUT Ren was sheer perfection. I swear the man has unlimited patience and loves with all he has. He was incredible and together they were RIGHTEOUS!!!

"I wondered what it would be like, when the Rock Chick and Hot Bunch settled in and the drama stopped."
"And what's it like?"
"Sheer Beauty."

So there are Rock Chick/Hot Bunch weddings, ummm, baby announcements :), new alliances, lots of hanky panky, Tex screaming at random customers, and revelations. I literally could go on and on... Oh and Also an AH~Mazing Epilogue that had me wishing this was not the end of this series, but a super surprise at the end that I think people everywhere will be excited about. :)
Claimed by Him: A Billionaire's Club Story - Red Garnier This was a short, steamy, perfect in between book. Some parts were slighty cheesy and the ending left me wanting just a little more, but overall it was a good read. I will say I'm excited to read Luke's story next.
Men of Steel (Men of Steel, #1) - M.J. Fields Omg, so I was half way done with my review and my computer decided it needed to reconfigure and it shut itself down, so that was it zip....GONE!! Got to hate it when that happens, so this one may be shorter.

This book completely confused me. I'm serious. By the cover and the name, I automatically assumed it was going to be about some badass MAN, maybe ex-army or something who refinds his best friends sister that he always secretly crushed on or something and then feel in love or something. Yes, I read the blurb, but I still got that impression by the name MAN of Steel, and then that cover,...smh. That's not what it was.

First I will start off by saying I'm not bashing the authors work. That's not how I roll. I know the author worked hard on their work and this probably just wasn't for me because I had something else already pictured in my head. It probably doesn't help that I'm in the middle of a re-read of the Rock chicks by Kristen Ashley. Those type of guys just automatically are already in my head, I suppose. However, I do want to get a little bit out of how I feel about it.

Jase was hot. NO, he wasn't what I was prepared for, but he still had an impact on me. He was blunt, tattooed, pierced in several places, yum, cocky, and Italian. Who could turn him down? However, he came off, as this badass, bossy guy and then instantly turned into a mush. Don't get me wrong, I love it when the badasses turn all soft for their women and this was a short story, but we're talking like page 8 he was a mush. I just wish he would've held onto his bossiness a little longer.

Carly......Carly is a whole other story, and honestly I could make the whole review about her. When the story first started I assumed this chick was a freshman in high school. I actually wondered what Jase saw in her at all. But then, OMG,...then I found out she was actually almost a senior, I think, in college. This did not fit. I mean what college girl has a 10:00 curfew?? And, doesn't know how to use Nair. The virgin thing didn't bother me at all, it was all the other things she was so naive about that left me confused about her character. I don't mind a little bit of naivety and even a girl who is a little bit dingy, but I seriously want to know, how has she made it this far in college?? lol!! I don't know, it's a lot to explain, to put it simple, I just didn't get her.

To sum everything up, I couldn't get with the dialogue, the storyline really didn't make sense to me, I mean it seemed the story was just picking up and it just ended. I'm not sure if I'll read the next one or not at this moment. I'm curious as hell, but at the same time, not sure if I want to go there again. it's supposed to be longer and I barely got through this one so I'm not sure.
Shine Not Burn - Elle Casey "Luceo non uro."

Okay, so this book completely surprised me. A while ago this book was all over my feed. I couldn't remember exactly what had been said but I remembered everyone liked it. When I was picking out an in between book to read in between buddy reads, this one caught my attention on my short list, but at the same time I was still a little hesitant to read it. I mostly think that was because I was more in the mood for more of a suspenseful book and this one didn't exactly fit the category, but ended up deciding to go with it. I'm happy to say it pulled me in and kept me there and I really enjoyed it.

image

The book starts out with Andie trying to decide if she wants to go to her friends bachelorette party in Vegas. Of course she's talked into it by her co-worker and friends. Before she ever even leaves she decides the trip is going to be a disaster because of her jerk of a boyfriend. Once she gets there and her friends get her to loosen up a little bit she decides that maybe for one night she can let loose and have some fun. OH AND FUN SHE HAD. She gets totally plastered, wears clothes she would never consider wearing, gets a new hairdo, learns to play poker, and oh yeah has wild monkey sex all night long with the hottest cowboy she has ever scene. However the next morning she wakes up with no memory of the night except flashbacks of hot sex and Mack is gone. She accepts that it was a one night deal and goes on with her life never looking back. Two years later, she's trying to marry another jerk when she finds out whoopsie, she already is married to a man in Oregon for which she has no memory of marrying. If her fiance ever finds out about this her whole lifeplan will go down the drain and everything she has ever worked for will be ruined. SO of course she runs off in secret to find this man and get a divorce without him ever knowing.

"What I have going through my mind is that I don't want this to end. There's something about you that's just lassoed my heart or my common sense or something and I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to get it back until you let it go. You're something special. Didn't you feel it? The way we fit together so perfectly?"

image

Okay, so let me just say Mack was a scorcher. I mean wow, the things he said and the things he did. YUM~MY!!! That scene where they consummated their marriage, HOLY PANTY CHANGE!! SERIOUSLY HOT!!! I loved how he was determined to change her mind no matter what but didn't overly try at the same time to do it. Sometimes the less he said or did, or just leaving all together was more effective than arguing with Andie.

image

Speaking of Andie, Sometimes, Andie could get a little bit on my nerves, only because she was so much in denial and tried fighting things so much it made me exhausted. I really do appreciate how she turned her life around when she was younger and made something of herself but she really was WAY uptight. I loved that Mack could loosen her up and bring out literally the best in her.

"Don't wait for me." I said, resting my head on the door.
"Don't make me wait too long this time," he said. Ignoring the double meaning in my words.
"Why can't you just let me go?"
"I can't let you go because you're mine. And because I can't stand to see you sad. I'm going to fix that. You sure you don't need me in there right now? I could cheer you up real quick, I promise."

I can say I expected a little more of a ruckus out of Hannah after what happened with Bradley. I kept waiting for Mack to put her in her place too but it never happened. At least not the way I thought he would.

The Epilogue was so cute. I loved it. I was sorta wondering if there would be another book about Ian. I really felt sorry for him and what happened and he kinda got left hanging in the end. Hopefully he'll get a happily ever after as well and preferably not with Ginny. She seems like a bitch. :)
